PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
The capability to develop new materials, improve existing ones and to suitably manipulate them for various applications has always been one of the important keys for developing newer technologies in almost all areas of relevance to our country, including some of the priority areas such as energy, environment and water management. The MRSI has been in the forefront of promoting this very important area of science in the Country. With more than 3000 active members drawn from different disciplines such as physics, chemistry biology and engineering the MRSI has become one of the most vibrant societies in the country. The meetings organized by MRSI provide an opportunity for many of the students and young scientists to mingle freely with leading experts and also help in promoting interdisciplinary interaction between people working in different disciplines. I hope that in the coming years the MRSI will continue to grow in strength with increasing participation of researchers both from the academia and industry, enabling the society to play an active role in improving the quality and relevance of materials science research being done in this country.
